When I was eleven I had a sweet eleven. I used to always watch sweet sixteen at the time when I was ten , so I decided that I should have a sweet eleven. Turning eleven was a big deal for me. I actually felt special and proud when I turned eleven. I was felt with joy and laughter. All of my family and friends came to my party which made the ocassion even better.  Turning eleven felt great for me. I still remember parts of my party until this day. I don’t think I will be forgetting about it any time soon.

Six Passages

1) Passage: “A ew days after the visit”

A few days after the visit of mine, they closed the dentist. During the story Elie played a very wise and smart role. In this part he was smart about his golden tooth.  He really didn’t want them to have his tooth.

2) Passage: ” The death march”

In the story this part stood out to me. During the march many Jews died. Elie was very strong during the march. At times he wanted to give up but he didn’t. He knew that he had to stay strong and keep surviving. The night of the march it was very cold and freezing outside. No one had any warm clothing during the march. Elie still managed to stay strong and continue marching.

3) Passage: ” All Jews outside”

This was apart of the begining of the story. During this part the Jews were not aware of what was about to happen.  Their lives would be turned around. Many lives would be taken, innocent lives. Parents and children were worried ,  faces of fare all around. At this point I felt bad for the Jews.

4) Passage: “Franek, the foreman one day noticed the gold-crowned tooth in my mouth”

I wonder what was so special about the gold crown. I don’t think it was fair for the Jews to have their gold teeth taken away. Gold crowns could have been special or had a meaning to some of these Jews. It would have been nice if they could keep their golden crowns.

5) “Do you see that chimeny over there”

The SS soldiers at the camps were disrespectful and worthless. They had no respect for the Jews. If I were at the concentration camp and a SS soldier asked me that I would have felt disrespected. I know the Jews were tromatized from some of the things they seen at the camps. I would have been scared for life if I was a Jewish holocaust surviver.

6) ” To die today,tomorrow, or later”

Reading this sentence from the book was heartbreaking. The pain that the Jews had felt and the things that they had been through at those camps made them feel that way. The Jews really didn’t care now or whenever they would die because they had a feeling either way they would die.

Reading Guide Questions 3&4

1) I think the Germans choose to hang a few prisoners in public to scare the Jews and make them feel uncomfortable.

2) One example of Elie and his father relationship changing was at the end of the book when he started caring more about himself than his father.

3) It was basically telling him he was going to die.

4) While he was at the camp he began to believe there was no God because of the insane things that were happening to him and the other Jews.

5)  The German man threw bread on the floor for the Jews, the man knew they would fight over the bread, he is an evil person.

6) Elie tried to help his father when he didn’t want any help.

7) On January 28, 1945 Elie’s father had died after his dad died nothing mattered to him anymore.

8) This sentence means that the look he saw in the mirror will stay with him for the rest of his life, he will never forget it.

9) He didn’t know how to deal with it because it was so sad.

10) The meaning of Night stands for the holocaust because it was like the longest night of Elie’s life

Reading Guide Question for Section 1&2

1) Elie describes himself as a religious person.

2) The Moshe Beadle is the man Elie met, who was the master of the town.

3) The town responded unsure to his stories sometimes.

4) I think Elie begins the story off with Moshe the Beadle because that was someone who he looked up too and was inspired by.

5) The oerman soldiers segereated the Jews from the rest and then moved them into ghetto’s.

7) The oermans did those things because they felt as though the Jews were non-human.

8) It means it is like a terrible night that never ends.

9)  So far this book is very informative. I’ve learned more about the Jewish holocaust. I think Elie is very strong and a brave little boy. During the begining when they go to the camps he thinks smart. Him and his father are staying strong.

Why do you weep when you pray ?

And why do you pray ?

After all the faith we had left ,  what can we expect

during the time of the war  : (

The Nazi’s had come for invasion of the Jews

German soldiers-with their steel helmets , and their emblem

We were placed in ghettos then sent off to death camps ,

The feeling was like the longest night of my life

Where did I get the strength from ?

This was the worst days of my life

Never will I forget this time of my life
